STUD SERVICE is available to select outside bitches that pass YOUR vet's health clearances for patellas (kneecaps), cardiac (heart murmurs) and bite. In addition, a recent Brucellosis blood test, to check for sexually transmitted diseases, will be required of outside bitches if they have been bred before (not required if they are maiden bitches). The lab fee your vet will charge you is usually $50 for this blood test.
We are also interested in knowing your bitch's pedigree (family tree), her overall health history, her reproductive history and her UKC show career.
Spring High Rat Terriers will provide the following documentation on our stud:
-his 5-generation pedigree
-a copy of his UKC Championship Certificate
-copies of his registration papers with AKC/FSS (American Kennel Club, Foundation Stock Service) and/or UKC (United Kennel Club) and/or UKCI (Universal Kennel Club International), whichever applies, to match your bitch's registration papers
-signed litter registration papers with AKC/FSS, UKC and/or UKCI, whichever applies, to match your bitch's registration papers
-copies of all of his OFA health certifications and/or C.H.I.C. Certification
-a copy of his DNA-profile
-his breeding history, including number and gender distribution of his pups
-his recent Brucellosis bloodwork test results
We will try to select the male that will best compliment your female's strengths, weaknesses, height and weight.
The STUD FEE is the price of a puppy or second pick puppy back from the breeding. Bitch owner gets first pick. The stud fee covers boarding your bitch with us.
There are numerous registries for rat terriers. We choose to triple-register our rat terriers with: AKC (American Kennel Club in North Carolina), UKC (United Kennel Club in Michigan) and UKCI (Universal Kennel Club International in New York).
Spring High Rat Terriers does NOT register any of its dogs with: CKC (Continental Kennel Club in Louisiana), NKC (National Kennel Club, Inc. in Tennessee), ACR (American Canine Registry in Arkansas) or APRI (America's Pet Registry, Inc. in Arkansas).
In summary, we cannot help you with Stud Service...
1. ...if your female is not a Type A (long-legged) Rat Terrier. We do not have any Teddy Roosevelt Terriers here and will not intentionally cross a RT with a TRT.
2. ...if she is not properly registered with one of the registries we use (AKC, UKC, UKCI).
3. ...if you don't have a 3-generation pedigree (family tree) on her, or if you can't get that information from her breeder, or if you aren't willing to pay for it through her registry.
4. ...if she came from a flea market, a roadside stand, a shelter, a pound, a neighbor, or if you found her wandering around outside of Wal-mart.
5. ...if you are not willing to pay to do basic health screening on her prior to breeding her (Brucellosis bloodwork, patellas, cardiac).
6. ...if she has had generalized demodectic mange as a puppy (this skin condition is hereditary and she should not be bred).
7. ...if she has a bad temperament for breeding (if she is too bold and aggressive, or too shy and fearful).
8. ...if this is her first heat. She is too young to breed.
9. ...if she is a TOY rat terrier (under 10 inches tall and under 10 lbs), as we have no males here her size.
10. ...if you have no clue about what it takes to raise a litter of puppies in terms of cost, time, space and commitment.
11. ...if you think you are going to make lots of money by selling cute puppies just like your female.
